History

In order to produce valuable refinery products with the highest level of quality, construction of Abolfares Petro -refinery complex began in 2020 with a nominal capacity of 50,000 barrels per day in Abolfares region of Ramhormoz city on a 100-hectare land to make a significant contribution in the future of Iran’s Petroleum refining industry, deprivation, creation of sustainable employment for the people Abolfares region and promotion of Iran’s oil industry’s value chain.

The feed for Abolfares Petro-refinery complex is provided by Kerenj oil exploitation unit which is located at a distance of 35 kilometers from Abolfares region.

Abolfares is one of the richest regions of Iran from oil reserves point of view.

The project kicks off ceremony was held on September 3, 2016 in the board members of Abolfares Petro -refinery company, and also Dr. Mohammadbaqer Qalibaf; speaker of the Islamic consulative assembly, Dr. Gholamreza Shariati; Governor of Khuzestan province, Mr. Ebrahim Matinian; Representative of Ramhormoz and Ramshir cities in the Islamic consultative assembly and a group of provincial and city officials of Abolfares region.
